Short version: be decent, do not treat a demo as gospel, and you can cancel any time.
Who I am
Matey is run by Matt, from Queensland, Australia. Wherever these terms say "I" or "me", that's who it means.
Demo pages
A demo shows a business's own public homepage with a matey added, so the owner can see what one would do on their site. It is built from that business's public website, it is not their live site, and the business has not checked it.
Mateys can get things wrong, especially in a demo. Do not buy anything or make plans based on what a demo says. Check with the business itself.
Names, logos, products and content on a demo page belong to the business they came from.
Each demo link is made for one business. Please do not pass it around.
Fair use
Do not try to break the demos on purpose, scrape them, or use them to run up a bill. Normal kicking of the tyres is welcome.
Getting a matey
The standard deal: I build your matey and install it for free. The first month is free. After that it is $149 AUD a month, with no lock-in contract.
If we agree something different in writing, that wins over this page.
What I do
I build your matey from your products, prices and policies, and tune it with you until it sounds like your business.
I host it, keep it running, and fix anything it gets wrong as soon as you tell me.
I send you a monthly report of what your customers asked.
What you do
You tell me when your prices, stock or policies change, so your matey keeps up. It can only be as accurate as what it is given.
Your own privacy policy should mention that your website uses a chatbot.
Don't use your matey for anything unlawful or misleading.
When a matey gets something wrong
Mateys answer from your information and are built not to make things up, but AI can still get things wrong. When it does, tell me and I will fix it fast.
Your customers are still dealing with your business, so keep an eye on your matey, especially in the first few weeks.
Your stuff stays yours
Your content, your catalogue and your customers' conversations belong to you. I only use them to run your matey and write your report.
I will not name you as a client publicly without your OK.
Cancelling
Email me any time. No notice period, no exit fee. I switch your matey off and delete your conversation logs. Take the one line of code off your site whenever suits.
The legal bit
The site and demos are provided as they are.
As far as the law allows, I am not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, and my total liability to a client is limited to what they paid me in the three months before the claim.
Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. If they change, I will update this page and the date at the top.
